Phase 1:    
More exercise

This is attributable to mechanical stimuli – when you bend and stretch, run and jump, pressure and impulse signals are passed to your stomach. This stimulates the muscles responsible for intestinal peristalsis. Even if you don’t suffer from constipation and have no weight problem, you will still benefit from at least 30 minutes exercise and gymnastics daily.
   
 
Phase 2:  
Eat more wholemeal products, vegetables and fruit
daroSAN Fruits, vegetables and wholemeal products are particularly rich in dietary fibres, the fundamental “bowel cleansing agents”. Make sure that each of your meals includes at least one portion of these healthy foodstuff groups. This is a generally beneficial procedure that you should continue even after completion of your cleansing regimen.
   
   
Phase 3:  
Targeted stomach massage
Stomach massage is a traditional method of alleviating stomach upset and digestive problems. If you regularly massage your own stomach, this will provide gentle and supplementary stimulation of your bowel function.

Lay down on your back and relax, preferably with a cushion under your knees so there is less tension on your back and stomach. Now place both hands on your stomach and circulate these gently and slowly, applying slight pressure, in a clockwise direction along the course of your large bowel for at least 5 minutes. Breathe evenly and deeply while applying the massage. Finish by moving your hands in three large circles. You can also use massage oil if you like.
 
 
Phase 4:
Drink more

Still mineral water or natural spring water (or even tap water in regions where this is pleasant-tasting) and herbal teas without sweeteners supply the liquid that the dietary fibres need to swell. If you have a high intake of dietary fibre but do not drink enough of these fluids, there is the risk that you may develop constipation! Not only this, but the availability of large volumes of liquids helps the kidneys eliminate toxins and waste products from the body more effectively.

How to check your liquid intake: You should be emptying your bladder every 2 – 3 hours. Your urine should be pale yellow and thin. If this is not the case, drink more!
   
   
Phase 5:  
Relaxation

The body’s elimination system of bowel, kidneys and liver is part of the vegetative or autonomic nervous system. This winds down and operates at a minimum level in stress and anxiety situations. However, it springs into action when you are at rest or relaxed.

You can promote the effects of your cleansing regimen if you provide your body with several relaxation periods daily.

Irrespective of whether you use music, meditation or massage, the calming effect on the sympathetic nervous system will result in stimulation of the parasympathetic nervous system, promoting cleansing and elimination processes.
